Jon LaPoma Places Two Scripts in LA Screenplay Contest

The Los Angeles Screenplay Contest has selected Jonathan LaPoma and Natalia Porras Sivolobova’s coming-of-age drama, LA TIERRA QUE YO AMO (LAND THAT I LOVE), as the 2nd place winner of their 2015 drama category. They also selected LaPoma’s script THE WAY BACK HOME as a finalist in the same category.

LaPoma has won 19 awards/honors since 10/7, and he’s won 64 overall since 2013.

Both LA TIERRA QUE YO AMO and THE WAY BACK HOME are ranked in the top 3% of the more than 2,600 feature-length screenplays listed on MovieBytes.com, and LA TIERRA QUE YO AMO is also the 4th ranked script in the romance category.

The BLOW UP Chicago International Arthouse Film Fest has chosen Jonathan LaPoma’s scripts A NOBLE TRUTH and THE WAY BACK HOME as official selections of their 2015 screenwriting competition. LaPoma’s writing works have now won 60 awards/honors since 2013.

The Oaxaca Film Fest has selected Jonathan LaPoma’s feature-length coming-of-age drama THE WAY BACK HOME as a top 12 finalist out of about 1,000 submission in their 2015 global script competition. Other winners in this year’s festival included Patricia Arquette and Takashi Miike.

Jon LaPoma Wins Grand Jury Prize and 1st in Drama at Las Vegas Screenplay

Jonathan LaPoma’s script, THE WAY BACK HOME, is the Grand Jury Prize winner of the 2014 Las Vegas Screenplay Contest. The script he co-wrote with Natalia Porras Sivolobova, LA TIERRA QUE YO AMO (LAND THAT I LOVE), also placed in the contest, winning 1st in the Drama category. LaPoma has won six 1st place victories since September of 2014.

Jonathan LaPoma’s feature-length screenplay, THE WAY BACK HOME, is a finalist in the 2014 Beverly Hills Screenplay Contest. This is the 7th honor the script has received in the past year, including the Grand Jury Prize at the 2014 Hollywood Screenplay Contest, the Grand Prize at the 2014 London Film Awards, and 3rd place at the Chicago Screenplay Contest (drama category). THE WAY BACK HOME can be seen as a mix between KES and BILLY ELLIOT, and has been described as “A story that will stay with you and make you look in the mirror” by Summit Talent and Literary Agency.
