Jonathan LaPoma’s feature-length coming-of-age drama A NOBLE TRUTH is an official selection of the 2016 EyeCatcher Film Festival. A NOBLE TRUTH follows two friends who take a road trip throughout the US and Mexico in search of what unites people in a modern world slipping deeper into apathy and discord. On this trip for truth, however, it’s soon evident that this is the last thing either friend seeks (EASY RIDER meets THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES).

A NOBLE TRUTH has won 18 awards/honors.

Jonathan LaPoma’s feature-length holiday-themed comedy, HARM FOR THE HOLIDAYS, has advanced to the second round of the 2016 Austin Film Festival. They had this to say about the script:

“Our readers felt your script was effectively funny with nuanced and witty dialogue. Jim is a very well-rounded character with an interesting arc.”

HARM FOR THE HOLIDAYS follows an asshole with a heart of gold who moves back in with his dysfunctional family after his brother attempts suicide a few weeks before Christmas, only to find that his brother is the sanest of them all (BAD SANTA meets SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK).

This is the script’s 6th award/honor in the last two months, and LaPoma’s 92nd overall for his 9 screenplays.

HARM FOR THE HOLIDAYS follows an unrepentant asshole with a heart of gold who moves back in with his comically dysfunctional family to help his younger brother after his brother tries to commit suicide a few weeks before Christmas. It’s soon evident, however, that the brother is the sanest of them all.

SOFI’S JOURNEY, Official Selection of Media Adventures Film Fest

The Media Adventures International Film Festival has chosen Jonathan LaPoma’s feature-length drama SOFI’S JOURNEY as an official selection of their 2016 screenwriting competition. SOFI’S JOURNEY follows a twenty-one-year-old obsessive-compulsive Peruvian woman who travels from Lima to the USA and takes a job at a small ski resort in Montana in hopes to find love and relief from her mental illness. LaPoma’s 8 screenplays have won 82 awards/honors in the last two years.

Both scripts are ranked in the top 2% of the more than 2,600 screenplays listed on MovieBytes.com.
