LA TIERRA QUE YO AMO Advances in FilmMakers International

Jonathan LaPoma and Natalia Porras Sivolobova’s character-driven coming-of-age drama, LA TIERRA QUE YO AMO (LAND THAT I LOVE), has advanced to the semifinals in the 2016 FilmMakers International Screenwriting Awards, putting it in the top 7% of more than 1,500 submissions. LA TIERRA QUE YO AMO follows a 30-year old half-Mexican half-American woman who, after failing to make it as a dancer in New York City, returns to her hometown of Oaxaca, Mexico and struggles with where she truly belongs. It can be described as EVEN THE RAIN meets BEFORE SUNRISE.

FilmMakers International Advances Two of Jon LaPoma’s Scripts

The FilmMakers International Screenwriting Awards has advanced Jonathan LaPoma’s scripts THE WAY BACK HOME and LA TIERRA QUE YO AMO (co-written by Natalia Porras Sivolobova) to the quarterfinals in their 2015 competition.
